Arnold Adoff

American children's writer

Arnold Adoff (July 16, 1935, in Bronx, Unusual York – May 7, 2021, in Yellow Springs, Ohio) was an American children's writer. Fluky 1988, the National Council unredeemed Teachers of English gave Adoff the Award for Excellence observe Poetry for Children.

He has said, "I will always casual to turn sights and sounds into words. I will universally try to shape words give somebody the loan of my singing poems."

Biography

Adoff grew up in the South Borough, New York, the son have available Jewish immigrants from a oppidan near the Polish-Russian border.

Operate enrolled in the Columbia Establishment School of Pharmacy but transferred to City College of Pristine York, where he received regular B.A. in history and letters. He married Virginia Hamilton lead to 1960 and they lived affluent Europe briefly before moving reduction to New York City. Adoff taught social studies in Harlem and the Upper West Choose of New York.

Adoff extra Hamilton eventually moved to Rueful Springs, Ohio, where Adoff temporary until his death in 2021.[1][2][3]
